Seniors bingo aims at appetites

The Lamont County Community Adult Learning Council will be hosting a free bingo for seniors beginning in Sept. with take home meals as prizes.

Seniors Bon Appetit Bingo will run 10 times between Sept. 2019 and Feb. 2020 at the St. Michael Recreation Centre.

Deb Holland, director of CALC, was looking for a way to combat the isolation of seniors while also addressing their meal time needs.

“I knew we could never afford to run cooking classes for seniors. And I remembered how much my own mother loved bingo. I thought if there was a way, we could marry the two and instead of having a cooking club, we could already have the meals prepared for them to purchase at cost,” she said.
