Chipman Players boost food bank coffers

Mini Pop Up Food Bank located at the Bruderheim Town Office

The County of Lamont Food Bank received a generous donation of $2,500 from the amateur theatre group the Chipman Players on Apr. 3.

“It was incredible how much they donated to us,” said County of Lamont Food Bank board chair Colette McBride. “It makes it easier for us when we go shopping. Our hamper numbers are up right now and will be for a while so we are going through more groceries than usual. This will certainly help us.”

McBride added that the food bank usually distributes 34 hampers a week and so far, this year it has been 40.

“We are only open one day per week and only allow people to visit once every four weeks. Although we may have to adjust that moving forward,” she included. “We are seeing more and more people coming to the food bank as a result of lost jobs and isolation.”
