Parkland RCMP seize drugs, money and loaded guns
On March 11, 2024 at approximately 3:30 pm a traffic stop was initiated by the Alberta Sheriffs for a traffic violation on Highway 16 near Highway 60. During the traffic stop the Sheriff observed a several weapons, including a firearm, and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect was arrested and the Parkland RCMP was contacted to assist with the investigation. Parkland RCMP seized the vehicle and obtained a Judicial Authorization to search the vehicle.
Parkland RCMP located and seized a number of items from the vehicle, including but not limited to, a loaded shotgun, two unloaded shotguns, one loaded hand gun, prohibited over capacity magazine, ammunition, hard body armour, multiple knives and a machetes, brass knuckles, 165g of methamphetamine, 92g of cocaine, 3.6g of fentanyl, a quantity of prescription and illicit tablets and $700 in cash. The suspect was currently on a 10-year firearms/ammunition prohibition.
Edmonton resident, Markus Busch (45) has been charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance (x3)
- Proceeds of crime
- Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited overcapacity magazine
- Possession of a loaded firearm with readily accessible ammunition
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
- Careless use of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm while prohibited
Busch was brought before a Justice of the Peace and he was released on a cash bail with conditions on March 13, 2024. His next court appearance is on May 8, 2024 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain, AB.
