Andrew School is exploring more ways to support early childhood learning by introducing a potential kindercare program which will provide care and instruction to kindergarten aged children on non kindergarten days throughout the school year.
Andrew school principal, Greg Cruickshank, explained via email how the program could benefit the community.
“It has been a program that found success in Vegreville. We have the room and are already a licensed pre-school so it is an easy option for us to provide (the program) with the resources we already have.
“This program enhances the opportunities for early learners and provides childcare for working parents with children in kindergarten. I wanted to build upon the success of our preschool and explore if the community sees a kindercare program as something they would like to have,” he said.
Instructors will enhance the instruction offered during kindergarten through a focus on learning through play. Programming will include letter and number recognition, language and literacy, math facts and numeracy, arts and crafts, and physical literacy.
