Lac La Biche RCMP execute search warrant related to firearms investigation

On March 15, 2024, the Lac La Biche RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Police Dog Services, and RCMP East Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, executed a search warrant at two residences in Lac La Biche County following a weapons complaint.

As a result of the search a male was taken into custody on 3 outstanding warrants. 4 firearms, a large quantity of ammunition, and a prohibited device were seized.

Darren Emile Cadieux (48) of Lac La Biche, Alta., was arrested on his warrants and is facing multiple additional charges including:

  • Uttering threats x 2
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm (x2)
  • Possession weapon contrary to court order (x3)
  • Deface serial number on a firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited device
  • Breach of Conditional Sentence Order x 6

Following a judicial hearing, Darren Cadieux was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear March. 18, 2024, in Lac La Biche Court of Justice.

As these matters are now before the courts, no further updates or details surrounding the incident will be provided.
