Fort Saskatchewan RCMP respond to fatal accident
On March 26, at 10:55 a.m., Fort Saskatchewan RCMP received a report of a serious two vehicle collision between two semi trucks on Highway 825 near Boysdale Road.
Upon arrival, both semi trucks, one hauling two empty propane tanks and one hauling pipes, were on fire.
The drivers of both semi trucks, a 41-year-old Edmonton resident and a 34-year-old Millett resident were deceased.
Other vehicles were damaged by either hitting debris or taking evasive action. Responding agencies including RCMP, Gibbons and Sturgeon County fire, Transport Canada, Fish and Wildlife, Alberta Sheriffs and Sturgeon County Peace Officers, were on scene for several hours responding to the fire and investigating the crash.
Although early in the investigation, initial reports indicate that the Southbound semi carrying pipes crossed over the center line striking head-on the Northbound semi carrying the propane tanks.
RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
