EXCLUSIVE: Q & A with Jabneel Development Inc.’s Gilles Filiatreault about lawsuit against Town of Lamont and former CAO

The following is correspondence between Lamont Leader Editor Michelle Pinon and Quebec construction developer Gilles Filiatreault of Jabneel Developers Inc. The former developer in Lamont is alleging the former CAO Tom Miller asked him for a kickback to move the project along. He set up a sting operation with national media, and allegedly have solid proof. His answers assume these allegations are true, though no charges have been laid. However a lawsuit has been filed to the extent of nearly $29 million.

1. Did you approach the media about doing the story? Yes.

2. If so, why? Because I wanted the world to know. I gave CBC and Toronto Star the exclusivity of the story and we were working on that story for almost 3 months.

3. What are you hoping will be the end result of this investigation? Truth to be known about the Jabneel situation, Gilles Filiatreault situation, Miller and the silence of the Town counselors (sic) till this day!!

4. What type of reaction and feedback have you seen or heard regarding the piece that was written, and aired on radio and television? People were offended, shocked, saddened, disappointed to see someone like Miller in so high authority to make such gestures. The complicity (sic) of the town, mayors and counselors (sic) by their inaction and their silence. People were proud of me for taking a stand over the last 5 years even if cost me a lot.

5. Have you filed a separate lawsuit with Mr. Miller? Yes, from the beginning with the town of Lamont.

10. Is your company still operating in Alberta, Quebec or elsewhere? Yes

11. Or have you pursued other avenues in terms of your career? I’m back in Quebec where I’m working as a manager on construction sites but I pray God for justice to be done and wish to come back and live again in Alberta. Even after all this, I still love Alberta. I know that it is not all Albertans that are like Miller.

12. Why have you gone to the lengths you have to uncover the truth? First I wanted to correct people’s perception regarding my integrity, second, I wanted justice to be done. I want to get back investors and my investments

13. What are you hoping will be the final outcome? My family suffered greatly from all this. That justice will be done and that I get back my life, my reputation and a settlement with the town of Lamont.
