HISTORY: Publisher of The Community Press, Viking Weekly Review, Tofield Mercury, Beaver County Chronicle, and East Central Times, Kerry Anderson started up The Lamont Leader on October 3, 2005. The newspaper joined the Alberta Weekly Newspapers Assoc. in 2008 as well as the Canadian Community Newspapers Assoc.
The Lamont Leader covers all the rural and urban residents of Lamont County with some 4,200 papers circulated free each week. The newspaper can also be read online at lamontleader.com
Since the paper began in 2005 its revenue has continued to grow as the paper established itself as the main publication of Lamont County residents and the only weekly paper with an office within the county.
In a short time the Lamont Leader has already won best historical feature story in Canada through the CCNA for its spread on the 50th anniversary of the train/bus collision at Lamont which killed numerous school children, mostly from the Chipman area.
The Lamont Leader is distributed into, and covers news from, Bruderheim, Lamont, Andrew, Mundare, Chipman, Star, St. Michael and Hilliard; all communities within Lamont County.
