The town of Lamont received assistance from the Alberta provincial government recently by way of funding which totalled nearly $500,000 from the Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI).
The funds were broken up into two categories with $66,000 allocated to town operations while the remainder was targeted for infrastructure.
The MSI is a funding program that supports municipalities with growth and sustainability needs by investing in their communities. This program has been in place since 2007.
“The MSI Operating funds are used for general operations. The Capital funds are put towards the 2020 Capital Works Project on 51 Street and patching program,” said Lamont chief administrative officer Christine Beveridge.
The 51 Street project in Lamont, which will repair the water main, sidewalk and road, is underway with a completion date of July 25 (weather permitting) at a total cost of just over $600,000.
