Community Appreciation Night helps food bank
A Community Appreciation Night was hosted by the Mundare Fire and Rescue department Nov. 29 to thank the community that has generously supported them.
“We’re always looking for donations from local businesses for the department,” said Fire Chief Glenda Dales.
“Plus, we normally go door to door collecting for the food bank. So, we decided to do two things at once and asked people to bring a donation for the food bank giving back to the community by hosting dinner here at the fire station.”
Firefighters were on hand frying up fish and chips as well as chicken with a side of coleslaw to satisfy the crowd. As well, cupcakes and Jell-O were on the dessert menu.
In addition to dinner, the crew were also available to provide information to visitors on various types of equipment and discuss safety tips.

The event was well attended with adults and children of all ages present to enjoy the evening.
“Our department puts in about 1,700 – 2,000 hours of strictly volunteer time a year,” added Dales. “I hope everyone will continue to support our local fire department. These firefighters are awesome.”
