The Fort Air Partnership reports there was only one high rating in the fourth quarter which went from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31.
The Gibbon monitoring station had a high reading for one hour out of the 14,690 hours monitored.
Compared to the previous year, air quality was worse in 2018 with five hours of high readings at the Elk Island and Gibbons monitoring stations.
The FAP noted the Chipman portable air monitoring station had no moderate, high or very high readings for the second consecutive quarter.
The provincial government calculates the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) using data collected at seven of the partnership’s ten air monitoring stations situated throughout the Alberta Industrial Heartland area.
