Deb Fountain, owner of Lamont’s new flower shop Trendy Petals, held her grand opening celebration Dec. 7. Guests were welcomed with breadsticks and homemade dips while enjoying the wonderful aroma of the flower shop.
Fountain officially opened her doors earlier on Oct. 5 and found a way to make that first open day a special time in her business history.
“I recorded the details of my very first customer,” explained Fountain. “I wrote her name and what she bought so I would always remember my first customer.”
Fountain said business has been very good so far with Thanksgiving and Christmas giving her a welcome boost. In addition, she has found a way to give back to her community by participating in the County of Lamont Food bank’s Giving Tree Program.
“The Giving Tree is doing really well!” she said. “We have four gifts under the tree right now.”
Fountain is hoping to focus on weddings in the coming year.
She also explained that before becoming a flower shop owner, she owned a trucking business with her husband Don in Mackenzie, B.C.
When Don passed away of cancer three years ago, Fountain felt she could no longer maintain her business.
“Last winter I knew I no longer wanted to have the trucking business,” explained Fountain. “It was too hard without Don.”
